Sabbath Rest Planner
Rest is not an afterthought; it is built into creation itself. A little preparation through the week lets the Sabbath become what it was meant to be: a delight, free from hurry and work. Use this planner to get ready in advance.
Prepare during the week
- Plan and shop for Sabbath meals ahead of time
- Finish the week’s work and errands before sundown Friday
- Tidy the home so it feels peaceful
- Set aside clothes and anything you will need
Ready the meals
- Cook what you can in advance so kitchen work is light
- Keep meals simple and wholesome
- Set the table with a little extra care
- Plan food you can share with a guest
Welcome the rest
- Mark the beginning of the Sabbath with prayer or song
- Set devices aside to protect the quiet
- Plan time in Scripture and worship
- Leave space for a walk in nature or time with family
Reach outward
- Invite someone who might be lonely to share the day
- Look for a simple act of mercy or kindness
- Close the day with thanksgiving
- Rest, trusting God with the week ahead
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.Exodus 20:8
