Introducing the Seed Sowing Calendar

We're overjoyed to introduce a brand-new addition to the Prepared for the Storm Academy: an interactive Seed Sowing Calendar. It's a simple, beautiful tool to help you grow more of your own wholesome food — month by month, season by season — with confidence rather than guesswork.
Why a Sowing Calendar?
One of the most freeing steps toward a self-reliant, God-honoring home is learning to grow food from seed. But for many beginners the hardest question is simply: what do I sow, and when? Sow too early and tender seedlings are lost to frost; sow too late and the harvest never ripens. The Seed Sowing Calendar answers that question for every month of the year, so you always know what to do next.
How It Works
Instead of a plain menu, we've built a clickable calendar. On the main page you'll see all twelve months laid out as cards — with the current month gently highlighted. Click any month and a dedicated page opens, explaining clearly:
- What to start indoors — the seeds to begin under cover on a warm windowsill or in a propagator.
- What to sow direct outdoors — the crops that can go straight into prepared ground.
- How to sow each crop — sowing depth, spacing, warmth and light needs, and the best timing within the month.
- Helpful tips for the month, and what you can harvest right now.
You can even filter each month by vegetables, herbs, or flowers to focus on exactly what you're growing.
Made for Your Climate — and Adaptable to Others
The calendar is written for a temperate Central European climate, which suits a great many of our members. If you garden somewhere warmer, you can generally sow a few weeks earlier; in colder or higher-altitude regions, shift a few weeks later. And if you live in a very different climate and aren't sure how to adapt the dates, you'll find a link on every page to speak with one of our coaches, who can offer guidance tailored to where you live.
Part of a Bigger Picture
The Seed Sowing Calendar lives within our Wholesome Food & Healthy Living pillar and sits naturally alongside our Regenerative Farm Map. Together they help you grow clean food at home and find trusted growers nearby — two sides of the same calling to nourish our families the way creation intended.
Sow in Hope
There is something deeply hopeful about planting a seed. It is an act of faith in the seasons God has set in motion, and a quiet declaration that we trust Him to provide. We pray this new calendar helps your household grow in both food and faith through every season of the year.
Go ahead and open the Seed Sowing Calendar — then find this month and see what you can plant today.
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” — Ecclesiastes 3:1
